Why Semlab
Asbestos analysis for you in Nicosia
The walled city and the modern suburbs
Inside its Venetian walls, Nicosia has old stone and mud-brick houses, while the city outside grew with apartment blocks and family houses through the second half of the 20th century. Buildings from that period may contain asbestos in floor tiles, adhesives, boards, fibre-cement roofs and water pipes. Before you renovate, take a sample of each material you plan to remove.
A country with its own asbestos history
Cyprus even had its own asbestos mine at Amiantos in the Troodos mountains, a reminder of how widely the material was used. Today the question for most homeowners is practical: does the roof sheet, the water tank or the floor tile you want to replace contain asbestos? You cannot tell by looking, but a small, carefully taken sample answers it.
