Asbestos test
Asbestos test – a reliable laboratory answer for €49.99 incl. VAT
An asbestos test shows whether a material contains asbestos. Result the same day the sample arrives. Analysis with the JEOL SEM-EDS electron microscope to ISO 22262-1.
What is an asbestos test?
An asbestos test is a laboratory analysis of a material that identifies any asbestos minerals in the sample. All six types of asbestos can be identified: chrysotile, amosite, crocidolite, anthophyllite, tremolite and actinolite. In everyday language it's called an asbestos test; the technical term is asbestos analysis.
When is an asbestos test worthwhile?
- Before renovating a building built or renovated before the asbestos ban (2005 EU-wide, earlier in many countries)
- If you suspect old vinyl floor tiles, bitumen adhesive, tile adhesive, roofing felt or asbestos-cement sheets
- When an asbestos survey is carried out before demolition
- As a risk assessment when buying or selling a property
How does an asbestos test work?
- Order the analysis online, pay by card and receive sampling instructions
- Take the sample safely (protective gloves; respiratory protection recommended)
- Send the sample as a letter or parcel with your national postal service to the laboratory in Finland
- Get the result by email the same day the sample arrives
Which method is used?
For every asbestos test, Semlab uses the JEOL SEM-EDS electron microscope (scanning electron microscope + element analysis) to ISO 22262-1. It finds even thin fibres and reliably tells asbestos apart from other mineral fibres.
How much does an asbestos test cost?
One material sample costs €49.99 incl. VAT. For more than 100 samples, the price is agreed separately. See the full price list.
